Happy holidays, everyone! What a year!
Putting politics aside, 2016 was a big year of change for Sunshine Sam. We started with high hopes, only to have our Bloomfield store flooded and closed. I was heartbroken.
But, after a big pity party, my wonderful friends and husband pulled me up by my bootstraps and I realized that I had an opportunity. We could bring Sunshine Sam to Montclair, a town I love, and find a space that better served the integral parts of Sunshine Sam; Space for classes and events. Make “giving back” an integral part of our store culture. Bring more independent artisan products into the store. And, PARKING! We needed a lot more parking!

Valley Road is more than I could have ever imagined. Getting to know you and your children is a precious gift. When I saw our mailing list from our time in Montclair I thought, “I can’t believe over 600 people have walked into our little piece of the sunshine in just 7 months!” How awesome is that?
I want to end with a quote from Children Inspire Design, “We believe that if we teach the importance of global responsibility and the acceptance of all humans at a young age, carrying that responsibility into the future will be second nature for our children. Inspire children. Change the world.”
I promise you that Sunshine Sam will continue to “up our game” (toy store pun)! And, here’s hoping we can bring out the “kid” in all of us with an inspiring 2017!
